The Jaspar Foundation is the charitable division of the Jaspar Group. The foundation was established in 2009 and its first major project was to establish a day centre for the elderly in Harrow. We converted the town’s former magistrates court building into a superb new facility The Jaspar Centre providing many leisure and recreational activities for the elderly as well as a place where they can meet and make new friends. The centre has become a focus for the elderly population in Harrow, helping to alleviate loneliness and social isolation. Since transferring ownership of the Jaspar Centre to another charity which is continuing its work, we’ve broadened our outlook more recently to make a difference in other areas including:
- Children’s health and well-being
- Encouraging entrepreneurship
We also provide emergency support in response to international disasters and emergencies.
In October 2019, the Jaspar Foundation made a substantial donation to St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow to support an in-patient room for two years. Following the donation, the Foundation’s Director Riddhi Pankhania (left in the photo above) was invited to a reception in support of the hospice, hosted by Metro Bank.
The Foundation has also made substantial donations to help relieve poverty and homelessness in Harrow.
We are supporting Harrow Foodbank in the purchase of a van to enable the foodbank to make deliveries of vital food boxes to people who are not able to get to their distribution points.
Chonde Nkowani, Project Manager of Harrow Foodbank, said: “‘Last year we distributed more than 2,600 three day emergency food parcels to people in crisis in Harrow including over 1,000 to children and the numbers this year already look as if they will be on the increase.”
“We give out food boxes at a number of distribution points in the centre of Harrow. Having a van will mean that we can reach people who for one reason or another cannot get to our distribution sessions. This may be because of a disability or because they are a carer and cannot leave the person they are looking after.”
We are also helping the Harrow homeless charity FirmFoundation to run its Winter Night Shelter, which operates from January to the end of March.
Julian Saunders, Manager of FirmFoundation, said: “We are very grateful to the Jaspar Foundation for their support. The night shelter is our biggest activity of the year to support single homeless people in the area and for the Night Shelter we rely on grants from trusts and the generosity of the local community and businesses.”
“To reduce hardship, improve wellbeing and enhance life opportunities for all, locally and beyond.”
Our vision at the Jaspar Foundation is to make a difference across a range of areas including homelessness, education, health and children’s well-being. We aim to help empower communities by effective grant-giving as well as by sharing our expertise, skills and mentorship. Based in Stanmore, north London, we have a particular interest in supporting local organisations in the Harrow area. Our vision is also to collaborate with like-minded partners to find innovative solutions to alleviate hardship and improve life opportunities. We are a dynamic and agile charitable foundation and will also respond to major international emergencies.
